Cardiology

Cardiology is the branch of internal medicine focused on diagnosing and treating diseases of the heart and blood vessels. If you have a heart condition such as heart palpitations, chest pain, cardiac arrhythmias, valvular disorders, coronary artery disease, atrial fibrillation, or others, your physician may refer you to one of our Washington Township Medical Foundation cardiologists.

During your visit, the cardiologist will ask questions about your personal health history and that of your family; your lifestyle and habits; as well as what symptoms you have been experiencing. A physical examination will be conducted and your vitals will be measured which may include height, weight, blood pressure, breathing rate, resting heart rate and temperature.

Some simple tests may be done initially, such as blood tests, an electrocardiogram (EKG) to measure your heart’s electrical signals, and a chest x-ray that will show your heart’s structures. Depending on your condition, further tests may be ordered.
