High School Volunteer Programs
High School Volunteer Programs are Year Round at WHHS

IF YOU ARE CURRENTLY ON THE LIST, YOU WILL BE CONTACTED BY VOLUNTEER SERVICES
WHEN AN OPENING BECOMES AVAILABLE.
High School Volunteer Requirements:
- Must be 16 years of age or older to apply and have sophomore standing
- Must have an overall grade point average of "3.0"
- Must attend Prospective Volunteer Information Session. Proof of attendance
is required to pick up a High School Application

After attending an Information Session, High School student comes into
the office with proof of attendance to pick up an application in Volunteer
Services office at 2500 Mowry Ave Suite 100, Fremont Ca. 94538

Go onto "Volunteer Log-In/Application" tab and fill out the preliminary application.
- One-time non-refundable application fee of $20 charged at time of picking
up the Volunteer Application Packet

Students are required to volunteer a
minimum of 100 hours within a year before receiving an Exemplar Letter or validation of volunteer
hours. No exceptions.
- Students are required to staff at least twice a month year round
Services available for high school student volunteers:
- Gift shop
- Lobby team volunteers
- Musician Volunteer Program (piano/violin/flute) in Main Hospital lobby
- Birthing Center (as needed)
- Special Projects
Health and Background Screening: - In order to provide the best care for our patients,
all volunteers are screened and must complete medical requirements through our Employee
Health Services (free of charge).
Screenings may take up to two months to complete. Proof of immunization to rubella and varicella (chicken pox) and an annual
tuberculin skin test are required. Volunteers who have any limitations are required to provide a doctor's
statement of release, noting any restrictions.

Uniforms - Volunteers must wear the Washington Hospital Service League volunteer
uniform and name badge while volunteering.
Orientation - After submitting an application and completing the medical requirements,
all accepted volunteers will be invited to a mandatory volunteer orientation
in order to learn about the Hospital's mandatory safety program, policies
and procedures. These are held as needed.
