Meet Our Physicians
Our physicians, the doctors of the Washington Radiologists Medical Group,
are highly trained specialists in Diagnostic Radiology. In addition to
being board certified by the American Board of Radiology, they all have
additional advanced fellowship training in specialized areas of radiology.
Jason Cheng, M.D.
Radiologist, Medical Director, Washington Hospital Medical Staff
Jason Cheng, M.D., director of medical imaging, attended Princeton University
where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical
and Aerospace Engineering in 1979.He then studied medicine at the Stanford
University School of Medicine, receiving his M.D. in 1983. After doing
an internship in Internal Medicine at Cedar Sinai Medical Center in Los
Angeles, Dr. Cheng returned to Stanford where he did his residency training
in Diagnostic Radiology. Dr. Cheng served as Chief Resident in Diagnostic
Radiology at Stanford in 1987-88. Before joining Washington Radiologists
Medical Group here in Fremont, he did an additional year of training as
a fellow in Cross-sectional Imaging (CT, Ultrasound and MRI) at Stanford
in 1988-89.
Bruce Lin, M.D, Radiologist
Washington Hospital Medical Staff
Dr.Lin received his B.A in Biology and Computer Science at Goshen College
in Goshen, Indiana. He studied medicine at the University of Vermont Medical
School, receiving his M.D. in 1995. This was followed by a transitional
medicine internship and a residency in Diagnostic Radiology at University
of Chicago Hospitals in Chicago, Illinois from 1995-2000. Because of his
interest in Interventional Radiology (IR), Dr. Bruce Lin, then did a fellowship
in Vascular and Interventional Radiology in 2000-2001. He was Director
of Interventional Radiology (IR) for Rush-Copley Medical Center in IL
for several years before being recruited to CA as IR director at Salinas
Valley Radiologists. Dr. Lin joined our practice in April of 2008. He
is board certified in Radiology with Advanced Qualifications (CAQ) in
Vascular and Interventional Radiology. Washington Radiologists Medical
Group is now able to provide a comprehensive Interventional Radiology
Service. This includes advanced therapies such as complex arterial and
venous revascularization of occlusions/stenoses, kyphoplasty, uterine
artery embolization, chemoembolization, tumor ablation and embolotherapy
for hemorrhage in addition to traditional Interventional Radiology procedures
such as dialysis access interventions, hepatobiliary and arterial interventions.
Mimi Lin, M.D., Radiologist

Dr. Lin received her undergraduate degree from UCLA in 1982. She attended
the University of Hawaii School of Medicine, graduating in 1987. She did
a transitional internship rotating through different specialty areas before
doing her residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Kaiser Los Angeles. Before
joining the group at Washington Hospital in 1993, Dr. Lin did a year long
fellowship in CT, ultrasound and MRI at the UCSF San Francisco VA Hospital.
After entering private practice, she has maintained her ties with UCSF
by serving on the volunteer clinical teaching faculty of the San Francisco
VA hospital.
Bruce Nixon, M.D., Radiologist

Dr. Nixon did his undergraduate studies at UC Berkeley, graduating Magna
Cum Laude in 1976. He studied medicine at Penn State from 1976-80 before
completing a Family Practice Internship at UCLA in 1981. Dr. Nixon did
his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Stanford University Medical Center
from 1981-84 followed by a fellowship in CT, MRI and ultrasound at Stanford
before entering private practice.
Sunil Upender, M.D.,Radiologist
Washington Hospital Medical Staff
Sunil Upender, M.D., graduated with honors from Wesleyan University with
a major in Biology. Dr. Upender graduated from the University of Vermont,
College of Medicine in 2003 and did his radiology residency at Norwalk
Hospital, a Yale University affiliated institution in Norwalk, Connecticut.
He was the Chief Resident in 2008. Dr. Upender just finished a fellowship
specializing in Body and Breast Imaging at Yale University Medical Center
in New Haven, Connecticut.
Jacob Wouden, M.D., Radiologist
Washington Hospital Medical Staff
Jacob Wouden, M.D., graduated Summa Cum Laude from Yale University with
a degree in molecular biophysics and biochemistry. He received the Hummel
Award for the graduate with highest distinction within the fields of science.
Dr. Wouden continued his education at Harvard Medical School. He remained
at Harvard for his residency at Brigham and Women's Hospital and fellowship
at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Dr. Wouden completed his fellowship
specializing in body magnetic resonance imaging.
