Expert Care for Non-Healing Wounds
Coping with chronic, non-healing wounds can be both frustrating and time-consuming,
but expert care is available to help improve healing and your quality
of life. At the Washington Center for Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Medicine,
our professional staff is highly trained in the specialized comprehensive
care of problem wounds, using the most up-to-date approaches in the science
of wound care.

Your Physician is Part of Our Team
The treatment you receive at the Wound Healing Center is designed to complement
the care your own physician provides, ensuring that your health care team
is always working together to provide the treatment that’s right
for you. Your physician participates in developing your treatment plan
and is kept informed of your progress every step of the way. Your team
at the Wound Healing Center includes
physicians with advanced wound care training, nurses trained in the care of chronic
wounds, and experienced technicians and staff.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

To help in your healing, you may be referred for hyperbaric oxygen therapy,
a simple but effective treatment in which you breathe pure oxygen inside
a pressurized chamber. The chamber has clear sides through which you can
see your surroundings, and is in a comfortable treatment room equipped
with TV and videos. The therapy quickly and safely delivers high concentrations
of oxygen to your bloodstream, which helps increase your body’s
own natural wound-healing abilities.
Wound Treatment is a Team Effort

Our wound care team is made up of doctors, nurses, therapists and other
medical professionals using advanced care treatments to help wounds heal
so that you can feel better and get back to enjoying life. In addition,
the clinic provides access to physical therapists, dietitians, pain management
specialists and diabetes educators.

Because every patient’s wound is unique, you will have a thorough
diagnostic exam to identify the type of wound you have and its underlying
causes. A program specifically tailored to your needs will be started
based on the most effective approach, which may include:
- Vascular evaluation
- Debridement
- Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
- Laboratory evaluation
- Infectious disease management
- Physical therapy
- Nutritional management
- Pain management
- Diabetic education
- Nuclear medicine
- Radiology
Our staff will set up regular appointments for your visits to the Wound
Care Center and give you all of the information you need to take care
of your wound at home between visits. Keeping your appointments and following
wound care instructions are essential to healing your wound, so let us
know whenever you have questions about your treatment plan.
We Put Patients First
There are many medical conditions, even ones that you may not be aware
of, that cause non-healing wounds. We perform a series of diagnostic tests
and, once a cause is clearly identified and understood, inform your physician.
We will then work with him or her to develop your wound treatment plan.
This collaborative approach helps to assure you that your doctors know
about the treatments and medications you receive to help heal your wound.
We Work With Your Doctor
We work with you and your doctor, like a team, to develop a treatment plan
which meets your needs. Treatment could begin during your first appointment.
Conditions We Treat
- Diabetic Ulcers
- Venous Ulcers
- Post Surgical Wounds
- Pressure Ulcers
- Ischemic Ulcers
- Traumatic Wounds
Insurance Coverage
Many health plans cover wound care treatment. Your coverage depends on
your specific plan. Be sure to bring your insurance cards with you when
you visit our clinic.
