What to Expect During The Gamma Knife Treatment Process
The Gamma Knife procedure is safe and effective because individual gamma
ray beams are too weak to damage healthy tissue on their way to the target
area but are very powerful when they merge simultaneously at the area
of focus. The actual time required to complete the treatment varies depending
on your individual condition and diagnosis, but is typically in the range
of 30 to 120 minutes.
After the procedure
Once the treatment is completed, the head frame will be removed and small
bandages will be placed on your forehead. You will return to the Gamma
Knife waiting area for brief observation by our staff. Upon final evaluation,
you will be discharged to a friend or relative.
The day after the procedure
On the day after your procedure, you may remove the small bandages on your
