Cancer Treatment Research Studies
UCSF - Washington Cancer Center Brings Clinical Trials to Fremont
To expand local access to new cancer treatments and other therapeutic advancements,
the UCSF - Washington Cancer Center is now offering a clinical trial program.
A cancer clinical trial is a type of research study that involves working
with people to test new ways to: prevent cancer; find and diagnose cancer;
treat cancer; and manage the symptoms of cancer and side effects of treatments.
Before cancer clinical trials are conducted on people, researchers generally
spend many years studying the effects of potential new treatments’
effects on cancer cells in the lab. The researchers also evaluate side
effects that may result from potential new treatments. Results of past
cancer clinical trials have led to many successful treatments that now
extend the lives and improve the quality of life for many cancer patients.
