The volunteers who make up the Washington Hospital Service League are professionals,
students, homemakers, and retirees -- people just like you who want to
make a contribution to their community.
Volunteers provide a willing pair of hands, an extra smile and a special
touch that helps make a positive impact in the care that is delivered
at Washington Hospital. Each member of the Service League Board of Directors
has a unique story. Learn more about these special individuals and why
they volunteer their time.
Washington Hospital Service League History
The Washington Hospital Service League, incorporated in 1956, began with
14 civic-minded women of the community who met to make plans for a volunteer
organization to work in and for the Hospital. These members never dreamed
that the organization would grow to over 600 women, men and students.
The Service League provides volunteers in a range of clinical and non-clinical
areas throughout Washington Hospital Healthcare System. Volunteers are
a valuable and essential part of the Hospital team.
