Prior to becoming a member of the Washington Hospital Service League, Teresa Artuz worked as a senior staff assistant at the New United Motor Manufacturing Inc. (NUMMI) for 21 years.

As Teresa was searching for a new job, she came across a Washington Hospital Service League volunteer opportunity and she immediately applied.

In February 2010 Teresa was elected as the first vice president of the Service League Board, where she is currently serving her second year term.

"I was thrilled to become a certified member of the Service League in April 2009," says Teresa. Her volunteer service first began at the Lobby Desk where she assisted patients and visitors. Then she served as a Surgery Liaison and as a volunteer in the Medical Resource Library.

Outside of volunteering, Teresa enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. She also enjoys singing and volunteering through her church.

"I volunteer not just to give back to my community, but because I would like to be an inspiration to the people I help, as well as encourage and inspire others to serve," adds Teresa.
