The Washington Radiation Oncology Center (ROC) opened in July 1984 providing radiation therapy services to the Tri-City Area. The mission of the Washington Radiation Oncology Center is to provide high quality, cost effective radiation oncology services to all patients. The Center maintains a caring and compassionate atmosphere, utilizing state-of-the art technology and keeping abreast of the latest developments.
The ROC offers patients access to leading edge treatment planning and treatment delivery systems offering the latest advances in radiation therapy. Technical resources include:
- Varian 21EX linear accelerator delivering dual energy photon and electron therapy. The accelerator is equipped with a 120 leaf multileaf collimator with the capability of 3-D conformal radiation therapy, intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and image guided radiation therapy (IGRT).

- GE Lightspeed Plus CT
- Philips Pinnacle Treatment Planning System
These resources allow the ROC to develop treatment plans based on 3 dimensional images of the tumor and surrounding tissue. A dose of radiation can then be prescribed and delivered with multidirectional beams that not only improve the accuracy and effectiveness of the treatment but also limit the dose and minimize injury to the surrounding tissues.
